Ich seh' den Weg und geh' doch vorbei,
Gewohnheit ist's, ich bin nicht frei,
schau selbst mit offnen Augen hin,
doch tu' ich nichts, so stirbt der Sinn.
Ich spür den Schatten auf des Seele,
woher er kommt, weiß ich zu gut,
will handeln, schrei'n aus voller Kehle,
doch folgt nur Trott auf meinen Mut.
So häng' ich hier und weiß selbst weiter,
die Zukunft leuchtet und strahlt heiter,
Ich seh' sie an und lächle dabei,
doch folge ihr nicht, so bleibt's einerlei.
